Bible Verses: 1st John

This week we return to 1st John, we will remain there for two more weeks and then we will move on to a topical study of some sort, I am still praying about what to cover this summer. May God move upon our hearts and change our lives.

1st John 5: 1-5

"Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God, and everyone who loves the Father loves whoever has been born of him. By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and obey his commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome. For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world-our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?"

Faith. The very spirit that drives us forward, a movement upon our lives that allows us to see others and the world through His eyes, as our own become blinded. We seek to be blinded by the light. It is because we do not wish to see thorough our eyes or live for ourselves but to be captured by Him, taken away.

We overcome the world through one thing according to His Word it is faith. What is it that we must leave behind? Fear. Those two are direct opposites you cannot have one joined with another. To live by faith is a journey but to even take the first step we must leave the world behind and we must leave fear as well. Easier said than done. Needless to say as we start the journey the world does not just let us go, you see we must battle it out for our soul dear ones.

The world is relentless but as this passage states, Faith overcomes. Loving God means following commandments not because they are burdensome and we must, but because we want to know Him. Let each of us allow this passage and the Holy Spirit to take us away this week to somewhere new, but dears remember leave the world behind and step forward in faith.
