We return this week to Matthew to continue our series on the teachings of Christ. This weeks focus: Judging Others. This topic is one that might be hard to hear, I know it will be difficult for me to hear these verses. May these verses change us, and may they open our eyes to see others from the lens of Christ and may we also take a step back and grow from our past mistakes in this area.

Matthew 7:1-5
"Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment you pronounce you will be judged, and with the measure you use it will be measured to you. Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when there is a log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye."
These verses are convicting and very real. Perhaps if we took a look at ourselves first we would see how much sin we have and we could repent, rather than seeing the sins of others. This would not not bring about reproach on our part but compassion. We could then seek to truly help them rather than pointing out their mistakes without seeing our own. Seeing others as Christ would see them means that our vision reflects His not our own and when someone's sin is apparent perhaps that should compel us to love them more, to seek to help them more, to go where they are. Love rescues, and so my family (sisters and brothers, my dear readers), may each of us put on the armor of Christ and let go of our pride and run into the places of need and offer love.
