This week Bible Verses will continue in Isaiah concerning humility. We will wrap up the study in Isaiah next week and begin Jeremiah in October. Again, we will return to both of these books at a later time so our study is not over, it has only just begun. . .
Speaking of studying I wanted to remind everyone once again regarding Bible Study Fellowship and their upcoming study on Isaiah. Many of our family members are a part of the organization and will begin this study soon and if you are available the study is still open as far as I know. In last week's post I mentioned this organization and provided the link so please refer to that post for more information. They have groups for men and women.
Moving on to Isaiah, I hope this study has been uplifting and challenging and I pray that the Lord continues to challenge us and draw us closer to Him.
*Bible Verses is not an exhaustive study and each reader is encouraged to read the book of the Bible in it's entirety, and seek the Holy Spirit regarding how the Word impacts their personal walk with Christ.
Isaiah 66:1-2
"'Thus says the Lord:
''Heaven is my throne,
and the earth is my footstool;
what is the house that you would build for me,
and what is the place of my rest?
All these things my hand has made,
ans so all these things came to be,
declares the Lord.
But this is the one to whom I will look:
he who is humble and contrite in spirit
and trembles at my word."'
*The following notes merely reflect my feelings and thoughts regarding the text. Every reader should seek the Holy Spirit alone for translation and revelation.
The following passage begins with a declaration where God is and who He is. It declares that we cannot give God anything because he already owns it all. The passage then shifts and redirects the reader to what the Lord looks for regarding dwelling close within us and beside us. Humility a striking word, one that still strikes to the core of my selfish flesh and penetrates like a deep wound. He seeks humility? Then there must be some brokenness, and a casting aside of my own pride, ambition, and self. It impacts me and causes me to dwell upon the following statement regarding trembling at His word. The Bible is not merely a collection of literature but a guidebook that pierces the heart, and transforms. Humility then perhaps comes from the reading of the word that produces a contrite spirit, because one must recognize that we are nothing without Him, the Word illuminates that fact. In light of humility it is not something we do, a legalistic action we take, but it is the natural response of the Glory of Christ.
