Bible Verses: Isaiah

This week we will continue our study on Isaiah and wrap up Chapter 40. We will not read it in its entirety, but I hope everyone has the opportunity to complete it on their own. For the remainder of this month we will be in Isaiah until we move on next month to Jeremiah. The studies on both of these books will be brief, as we will return to them in the future. May God continue to work in our hearts and lives this week, and may His Word change us.

* For a more in depth study of Isaiah, many of our family members and others are a part of an organization known as Bible Study Fellowship. Each member studies the same book of the Bible regardless of location, and there are many chapters in various states. I am including a link to the Bible Study Fellowship online website on the left side there is an option to find a class. Hopefully this is helpful. Jared and I are currently unable to be a part of this organization, but I have heard wonderful things about it from various people who are a part of it.

Chapter 40: 25-31
"To whom then will you compare me,
that I should be like him? says the Holy One.
Lift up your eyes on high and see:
who created these?
He who brings out their host by number,
calling them by name,
by the greatness of his might,
and because he is strong in power
not one is missing.

Why do you say, O, Jacob,
and speak, O Israel,
"My way is hidden from the Lord,
and my right is disregarded by my God"?
Have you not known? Have you not heard?
The Lord is an everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He does not faint or grow weary;
his understanding is unsearchable.
He gives power to the faint,
and to him who has no might he increases
strength.
Even youths shall faint and be weary,
and young men shall fall exhausted;
but they who wait for the Lord shall renew
their strength;
they shall mount up with wings like eagles;
they shall run and not be weary;
they shall walk and not faint."

*The beginning of the passage draws upon us a reverence for the Lord. There is no one comparable to the Lord. Then there is a lifting up of one's eyes to Him. This is convicting, at times we only focus and see what is right in front of us, the problem or the situation, and we fail to look towards the Lord. Then the following questions stop me in my tracks. Sometimes when hard times come we seek the Lord regarding our rights, our desires, our ideas about how things should work out, our solution. Their is a redirection here. There is truth that causes us to move away from ourselves. He alone knows the answers. He alone understands. He alone gives us strength and answers. Does this verse mean we will not enter adversity if we know Him. I believe the passage speaks for itself. BUT those who seek the Lord for renewal will gain strength. What Hope. Let us run to Him.Let us seek Him always, not because we think we know the answers, or because we want to give him our solution, but because He is worthy. Because He knows us, let us just run, and then let us listen to Him speak.
