Bible Verses: Isaiah

For the next two weeks, we will be in Isaiah chapter 40. I wanted to share with you the upcoming direction of our Bible Verses Series! I am so excited and can't wait to learn with you! We will continue in Isaiah for the remainder of the month of September until we move on to Jeremiah in October. In November, Bible Verses will focus on various aspects of giving God thanks and passages regarding thanks. In December, Bible Verses will cover various texts that discuss the birth of Christ and His awaited arrival. I am looking forward to all God has in store for our studies, and I pray that he continues to change each of us and draw us closer to Him.

For now, we will begin in Isaiah Chapter 40. . .

Chapter 40 verses 10-12

"Behold, the Lord God comes with might,
and his arm rules for him;
behold, his reward is with him,
and his recompense before him.
He will tend his flock like a shepherd;
he will gather the lambs in his arms;
he will carry them in his bosom,
and gently lead those that are with young.

Who has measured the waters in the hollow
of his hand
and marked off the heavens with a span,
enclosed the dust of the earth in a measure
and weighed the mountains in scales
and the hills in a balance?"

This passage is a beautiful depiction of God's care for us. If we put ourselves in the place of the lamb in the passage it is a depiction of God's grace, love, and mercy. That he would gather us, after we have rebelled, that he would seek us in the midst of our sin and pick us up out of that, call us and carry us. He will be a leader for parents. The tone of the passage drastically changes to that of questioning. Who are you? and Who is He? I think both these things are being addressed in the ending passage. It indicates the vastness, and Majesty of God. Back to the beginning, the Lord comes with might, he comes to claim His lambs, to Shepard them, and he is powerful. His love surpasses all knowledge. May each of us rest in the arms of our Shepard this next week and always. May we praise Him and earnestly follow Him. For those of us in a time of loss, mourning, hardship, or stress, may we rest knowing that He is carrying us. What Love!!
