Joel is a short book in the old testament. It recalls events in Judah such as the invasion of the locusts, but primarily it is a book calling Judah to repent as well as a book describing the Lord's mercy on his people. It corresponds with Nehemiah in that Joel is called to speak to the people and ask them to repent and declare what will happen. It talks of the Day of the Lord and speaks of God's power. It talks about the end times, when the Lord will come. It is encouraging and inspiring and awesome to know that many years before these events would come to pass, God called Joel to speak of what will come. May we focus this week on Returning to the Lord. May we focus on seeking Him and pursuing his Word.
Joel 2:28-32
"And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh; your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, and your young men shall see visions. Even on the make and female servants in those days I will pour out my Spirit. "
Joel 2: 12-13
"Yet even now, declares the Lord, return to me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning; and rend your hearts and not your garments. Return to the Lord your God, for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love; and he relents over disaster."
