Bible Verses: Give Thanks Series

Today Bible Verses will focus on ways in which we can give God thanks. This will include a list of activities or new ideas on ways to give thanks.

Next week, the series will do a special focus on Giving Back and will highlight a few organizations in need. Please note this list of organizations will not be comprehensive and there are several local organizations that will not be focused. The reason I wanted to post some of these is that we are in a time of year where we can give back and we can make a difference. I am not trying to pressure anyone to support one or more of the organizations, but I would encourage all readers to look deep within and deal with the issue of giving individually and with your own family. I wanted to highlight these organizations for those that might decide to give back, or have been thinking about giving but don't know where to give. That being said, if you have an organization you would like me to feature please comment to this post and I will do so.

* Now on to this weeks series here is a list of some new ways we might give thanks to the Lord as well as a highlight on the traditional ways:

1. Prayer and Worship- Belt your heart out to God. . . someone once told me that He doesn't care how well we sound, that is a good thing in my case:)

2. Giving back to others and telling them how God has blessed us. (More on this next week)

3. Noting/Listing how God has blessed you and sharing it with the Lord or with others. - We do this as a family for thanksgiving.

4. Using your talents to worship Him- Whether its in a worship band, knitting, drawing, writing, photography we all have specific gifts He has given to us, using these to help others or serve Him is a way to give thanks.

5. Serving. In any capacity this is a good way to give God thanks.

Activity Ideas:

1. Write it- Poetry, Listing, Collage, Scrapbook in some way represent how God has blessed you and share it with others.

2. For Kids- I have seen many ideas for how to do this I will include links at the bottom so check those out for craft ideas. Get creative.

3. Thank You Notes- Keep a Note Journal in which you write thank you notes to God.

4. Worship- Sing along or do an in depth study of some worship song lyrics(this is really fun.)

5. Your Ideas- Think on your own and come up with as many ideas as you can to give God thanks, maybe complete some of these next week as you prepare for Thanksgiving.

This verse may have been used in a previous post but I think it sums up Thanksgiving.
Colossians 2:7
"Therefore as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk with him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving. "
