For the next three weeks the Bible Verses Series will focus on Ecclesiastes. It is a book that I am not very familiar with, but I am eager to learn about it. May God change our hearts and lives, may he convict us of our sins and may we grow closer to Him.
*Note- This series is a short study upon parts of particular books in the Bible and is not an in depth study, the book should be read in its entirety to take into context the information presented. May the Holy Spirit speak to each of us and may God's word change us.
Ecclesiastes 3:11-15
"He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, he has put eternity into man's heart, yet so that he cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end. I perceived that there is nothing better for them than to be joyful and do good as long as they live; also that everyone should eat and drink and take pleasure in all his toil-this is God's gift to man. I perceived that whatever God does endures forever, nothing can be added to it, nor anything taken from it. God has done it, so that people fear before him. That which is, already has been; and God seeks what has been driven away."
These verses overflow with the love of God. The beauty mentioned here can be eternal not just physical, the beauty that comes from enjoying and finding joy in Him. The next passage is unbelievable God puts eternity in our hearts, not so that we can figure it out, but so that we can understand that what is here on Earth is not eternal. Who He is far exceeds our knowledge or understanding. What love and grace! It also speaks of God's provision for our work and how we will have joy in the midst of toil. What hope! This passage just changes my perspective about work, life, and meaning. At times I get so caught up in the day to day tasks that I do not focus on God or His promises. I do not see that what is here is temporary. At times I cling to my possessions, job, and self esteem. What love and grace it is that he forgives my selfish ambitions, and calls me to seek Him. May this passage change each of our perspectives forever, and may we seek Him, may we cling to the cross, and may his grace abound.
