Bible Verses: James

This week we will return to James chapter 1. Today I will include some quotes regarding our faith as well as the passage so that we can meditate on all of that, and apply it to our individual walks with Christ. May the truth of this passage become real for all of us. I readily admit that this passage is something that I still struggle with and I am still being convicted by it, as we speak. Also, please share any thoughts you have regarding the passage or the quotes. I would love to hear your thoughts:)

*Bible Verses is not an exhaustive study and each reader should seek the Lord alone for revelation and translation.

James 1: 19-26
"Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness God requires. Therefore put away all filthiness and rampant wickedness and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.

But be does of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks intently at his natural face in a mirror. For he looks at himself and goes away and at once forgets what he was like. But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing.

If anyone thinks he is religious and does not brindle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person's religion is worthless. Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world."

"The Religion that gives nothing, costs nothing, and suffers nothing, is worth nothing." Martin Luther

"Christianity is NOT a religion; it is a proclamation of the end of religion. Religion is a human activity dedicated to the job of reconciling God to humanity and humanity to itself. The Gospel- however the Good News of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, is the astonishing announcement that God has done the whole work of reconciliation without a scrap of human assistance. It is the bizarre proclamation that religion is over- period." Robert F. Capon

"Men choose a religion, but a Christian is chosen by Jesus Christ." Iranian martyr Menhdi Dibaj
