This week and next we will focus only on 1 Corinthians 13 and its definition of love:
Our culture: A man is to drop everything in life to pursue a woman, He needs to be there for her at all times.
The truth: "Love is patient" - It is willing to wait as long as it takes for someone to mature, for him to call, for him to recognize God's calling on his life, for him to be all God created him to be. That kind of magic just does not happen overnight.
Our culture: Love is about you. Love is what you feel when you are with someone. Love puts You first
The truth: "Love is kind" - Kind is such a gentle term something that is so rare today. It is not just considerate of others it is overly giving; it is kind. Love requires us to put others before ourselves. Love gives and does not take. . . (see what I mean about internal struggle. . . ???)
Our culture: Love is about what you want and need
The truth: "Love does not envy" : Love does not want what it does not have. It does not compare itself to others. It does not seek its own desires. . . (Isn't love getting harder to do???)
Our culture: Love is on display, everyone needs to know about it, PDA is fully acceptable
The truth: "Love does not boast" : Ooops so those steamy moments in the middle of Walmart? ? just kidding. . . but seriously it does not need to tell anyone (people can tell real love when they see it). As for PDA my own two sense is I do not prefer it, but everyone must judge for themselves what they feel the Lord is saying to them. The point I am making here is that PDA for the sake of letting everyone know how good you have it just isn't love. . .
I hope these hit us as hard as possible and that true love chisels away our hearts of stone. . . that by the end of this study we are really truly loving . . . more and more each day.

It's crazy that you posted about 1 Corinthians 13 because that is the exact verse I read earlier today. :)
