Denton: Home to countless students, many low-income families, the rich and wealthy, and professors. Ok a huge mission field, one that is hard to identify, diverse and very needy. So reaching out. . . how can we reach out to these souls, these dear sweet children of the living King, how can we be cup bearers so that they can find Him? How can we show them the well to living water so that they might not thirst again? How can we step out of our comfort zone to go beyond ourselves to lift them up? How can we be the church?
Perhaps that last question hurts, it should, it hurts me. Who are we called to be? Are we called to ignore the man with the sign begging for change? What about the loud mouth atheistic student? What about the professor that persecutes and bad mouths Christians. Let's look to the Word to answer. The person begging for change I think they appear in the Bible several times. What about the loud mouth atheist? Oh how many atheists has God saved from the grips of mere carnality. The persecutor? Paul. . . I mean uh. The Word is clear. These are His children. These are our brothers and sisters waiting to be reached. To truly impact the world we must stand in our sphere of influence. Where will you stand? Who will you reach out to today?
