Bible Verses: Compassion Sunday

Today is officially Compassion Sunday, so in lieu of writing about endurance I am going to write about those who endure each day what many of us will never have to face. Next week we will carry on with a discussion on human trafficking. Get ready this is going to get gritty.

Each day we awake in a bed that is comfy, we make awaken to a full breakfast or it least a warm cup of joe, we open our bedroom door to see a living room full of beautiful decorations and comfy furniture, perhaps we go awaken our children and share the morning with them as they come out in comfy pj's. Halfway around the globe children awaken to a much different reality.

They may awake to a porridge that still leaves them hungry on a dirt floor with scraps for clothing and no furniture. They may not even have food and awaken to another day full of hunger. What do they have that we do not know? True supernatural joy and endurance that is fueled solely on the grace of God. They awake and depend on him for everything. They cry out and our Lord hears their cry.

Let this Sunday be more than an average day Lord, may we awaken and hear the cries of your children that echo the dirt streets of Africa, the alley's of Nicaragua, the hearts of your people. Awaken us. It is not an option to help them, it is our calling. It is not something that we may do, it is something that we must do. So that no child wakes up hungry, until no child wakes up hungry, until you return and fill us all with your compassion. May we be burdened, may it hurt, until we seek your face for these little ones.
