This week we will conclude the Bible Verses Series on grace. We will also wrap up moments of grace as well. Next week we will move on to a series about "Truth" that will span from next week through the first week in September. This topic will include a mini series called "Echos on truth" which will feature quotes from others regarding truth. I pray that the Lord uses this series to speak to us all and transform our hearts and lives.
*Bible Verses is not an exhaustive study and each reader should seek the Lord alone for revelation and translation.
Hebrews 5: 15-20
"And thus Abraham, having patiently waited, obtained the promise. For people swear by something greater than themselves, and in all their disputes an oath is final for confirmation. So when God desired to show more convincingly to the heirs of the promise the unchangeable character of his purpose, he guaranteed it with an oath, so that by two unchangeable things, in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled for refuge might have strong encouragement to hold fast to the hope set before us. We have this as a sure and steadfast anchor of the soul, a hope that enters the inner place behind the curtain, where Jesus has gone as the forerunner on our behalf, having become a high priest forever after the order of Melchizedek."
Hope is our anchor, it is our refuge in time of need. We have hope Only because we have Christ. He is our only hope. Our hope enters the inner place behind the curtain to become closer to God because Christ went there before us. This passage is perhaps the most encouraging and it also clearly depicts hope as a force. So let us not see grace or hope as merely abstract because they move on our behalf. Grace that we might enter the chambers of the Most High, that we might seek Him ourselves, all by the grace found through Christ. So this week let us take great hope, let us sink in grace, and fall before the feet of the throne and may these powerful forces transform us and bring us closer to Him.
Moments of Grace:
The past few weeks have been full of moments of Grace.
* Fredericksburg: The fact that we were able to return to a place that holds so many dear memories and make new ones as well was a time of grace. We walked up cross mountain and reflected on the power of the cross. How I longed for all to see Christ like all could see the cross on the hill and God's grace hit like nails and they are still transforming.
* Anniversary: Looking back on three years of memories and love with my husband was a great moment of grace this past week. God's grace has changed us both since the time we have met, and being able to watch God move in his life has changed me. Three years ago we said our wedding vows and now we are a family of three as God's grace continues to cover us.
* A Church Home: As we prayed to find a church home, God continued to work in our midst and led us to the place where He has for us to be. This decision was a work of the Holy Spirit moving among us and the certainty of this is an act of grace; as is the fact that we are an even greater family with all believers regardless of where any of us choose to meet. God's direction is truly an act of Grace.
*Names: Jared and I made a list of names for our baby. We came together and discussed possibilities none of which we had in common; except one. Kaleb. We both found this a sign that this should be his name. Then we looked it up. Faithful to God, Loyal. How we long for those things for our son. Was it by sheer chance? I think not, but that is because I do not think anything merely happens by chance it is all by His will. Later that week we went to his mother's house and she handed me a passage she had read on the day we announced Kaleb's name. It was part of the story of Caleb in the Bible. I was speechless. Only God knows us by name, only God can move in our midst if we only recognize it.
* Birds: I have had the distinct pleasure of watching a mother care for her babies on my porch. Why my porch and not somewhere else? Why did she choose to come here? I do not know but God does as I waited for her to have her babies in eager anticipation, I also wait for my own baby which I find in this a Grace and Peace. Why did God choose me to be this baby's mother? It is truly a gift of his grace. Like the bird on my porch we are safe in His arms.
What moments of grace have you experienced lately?
